If Barney Stinson went out with his friends in 2016, he would not be able to suit them all up! Menswear is getting less and less formal these days. While the good old business full-suit is far from dead, even the most conservative of stylists cannot ignore the new trends in the male fashion arena.

Our fashion trendsetters have also changed overtime. Back in the day, the likes of Shahrukh and Salman Khan were always spotted in suits. SRK had once declared that he only had black suits, most of which looked exactly the same. However, today’s trendsetters like Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have a rather experimental and fearless approach to fashion. They are often seen in shiny blazers and printed pants and things that are characterized as sports luxe (luxury meets sports).
With formal suits having gone through at least two levels of casual transformation – ‘broken tailoring’, as some call it, more and more men are starting to combine smart separates such as blazers, waistcoats and trousers with less formal pieces for a dressed-down yet refined aesthetic.
Designers may show a slew of new concepts and ideas each season, but that doesn’t mean you should scrap your current wardrobe in favour of snapping up with the current season. Tapping into the overarching trends and purchasing a few key pieces that check multiple boxes means you’ll continue to build a solid, versatile wardrobe while still looking on point.
You can either choose to pair your formal blazer with a t-shirt, cotton trousers and loafers or with a pair of blue denims and printed shirt.
So are there any particular trends that you’ve come across and are still reigning? Or is there one you’d love to see the back of?
