“My ultimate vision is to see YWC outlive the name Yuvraj Singh,” is what the cricketer turned entrepreneur had to say at the launch of his very own apparel label, YouWeCan, aka YWC. An emotional venture for Yuvraj, YWC not only offers premium fashion to his fans, it also supports his NGO, YouWeCan.
Being a cancer survivor himself, the core of the brand is rooted in his personal journey with YouWeCan, an NGO he set up specifically for cancer survivors and patients. Moreover, proceeds from the sale of every product will contribute to the NGO with a long term objective to make it self-sustaining to serve its cause.
The star-studded launch of the brand will probably be remembered as one of the most memorable fashion moments among cricketers. Yuvraj has followed in the footsteps of his peers such as Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar, who have also launched their fashion labels in recent times.
The collection, which will be available online on the YWC official website and exclusively on Myntra, has two distinct product lines – Gold and Core – and will be available at the price point of Rs. 1,199 up to Rs. 4,400. The Gold line has been meticulously designed and curated by renowned designers, Shantanu & Nikhil; the Core line is conceptualised around the lifestyle of an active go-getter, seamlessly integrating every day comfort and an athletic lifestyle with trendy fashion.
By adding Yuvraj’s YWC to its portfolio of brands, Myntra intends to bring the ace cricketer’s nonchalant fashion sense and compassion for a cause, to hundreds of thousands of fans across the country. This further strengthens Myntra’s hold on the lifestyle category, especially the ‘atheleisure’ segment.
Fellow sportspersons lent their support to the brand launch by walking the ‘gold carpet’ themselves. Sports and fashion enthusiasts feasted their eyes on none other than Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Sushil Kumar, Chris Gayle, Ashish Nehra, Baichung Bhutia, PR Sreejesh, Sharmila Nicollet, Virendra Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, and of course Yuvraj Singh, among many others. Superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone were also seen at the event, along with many other Bollywood stars.
