If you’ve been to our website recently, you’d have seen our ‘I Love Sale’ campaign starring Lisa Haydon. We started this in January to promote the end of season sale across the various brands available at Myntra. While we have been tweeting about it for a while now, last week we decided to have a little more fun and in the process create some buzz on Twitter about the sale. The #ReplaceMovieTitlesWith hashtag has always been popular on Twitter, and we decided to ride along, adding ‘Sale’ to it.
We actually began talking about this the day before, asking people to be ready for a fun contest. We began the contest at 2 PM on 5th February and within 10 minutes, #ReplaceMovieTitlesWithSale was trending at #1 in India, and #2 worldwide.
In fact, our wonderful followers were so enthusiastic about it that in the 3 hours the contest was live, we got over 7000 tweets. You can see a sample at Storify. We chose four winners based on the uniqueness/humour quotient and thanks to a real-time idea from one of our colleagues, also made a movie poster collage based on the winning entries.
