When designer Javed Khan graduated from NIFT, his forte was high-fashion women’s wear design. Having landed a job in Louis-Philippe for designing their upcoming brand LP, it was quite a challenge for him to adapt to designing men’s wear where exploration was not done through crazy silhouette but through fabric innovation, garment handle, hidden internal details, fine craftsmanship and tailoring. From those early days as a designer to turning entrepreneur for his own brand ‘Mr. Bowerbird’ under the aegis of the Myntra Fashion Incubator, the journey has become a reflection of his lifestyle and inspirations.
He takes us through his vision of the brand in this video:
In times when the lines between formal and casual clothing is blurring, Mr. Bowerbird, a men’s wear brand discards difference between formal and casual and smart dressing. “Mr. Bowerbird focuses on making ‘everyday favourites’. Every piece is designed in a way to be paired with anything else in collection. With Mr. Bowerbird I’m trying to push the idea of not disposing things so fast. There is a story attached to everything.” says Javed Khan.
