For The Love Of Little Ones, Myntra Launches ‘Pluie’

If you remember, we launched our Fashion Incubator (MFI) Program for budding designers early this year. The idea was to mentor young talent who do not have access to industry expertise, capital, supply chain, and distribution platforms.

So, as part of the year-long MFI program, Myntra supported the selected designers with a dedicated design studio, mentorship on fashion and business from seasoned designers and thought-leaders from the fashion industry, financial assistance to create merchandise for one season and the opportunity to retail their brand on Myntra. What else can a designer wish for?

It’s now been 10 months and the 7 brands are all set to be launched starting October’15 to January’16, the first one being ‘Pluie’!

We spoke to MFI designer Harleen Kaur who launched her kids wear brand ‘Pluie’ this week, and we wanted to know how all this began. She says she was deeply influenced by her past and wanted to revive the age-old tradition of making clothes with love for children, like the ones her grandmother used to stitch and knit for her. When asked how she feels working with kids, she says, “Who doesn’t love kids! Though it’s tough to hold them down and take feedback or try clothes on them but working around them is super fun as their little gestures make up for a bad, stressful day.” She adds, “It’s very important to understand how kids interact with their surroundings and each other to help know the requirements for designing clothes that are friendly, interactive and yet comfortable to wear.”

Excited to tell us more about the collection, Harleen says, “With Pluie, we’ve focused on using only cotton based fabrics for our collection which are friendly and breathable. Dresses and skirts have volume for twirling around the garden and jackets have big pockets to store treasures.”

Each garment of Pluie is softener washed to ensure they stay soft against the skin. Button or zipper placements are secured in a way that they’re not in direct contact with the skin so that they don’t feel itchy or uncomfortable.
