New Avatars of the Ensemble That Never Ages

The Big Fat Indian Wedding is an elaborate affair and the wedding industry in India is forever flourishing regardless of an inflation or deflation. With each passing year, Indian weddings are becoming fancier and plush. And considering that the majority of Indian population is below 30 years of age, the wedding industry is set to bloom.

Bridal Collection

In keeping with the evolution of the wedding industry, consumer trends have also evolved from traditional wedding attire to designer wear. The focus is not only on bride and groom wear but also bridesmaids and groomsmen attire.

Interestingly, the trend shows that online fashion platforms, such as Myntra, have breached one of the most traditional frontiers of shopping. Gone are the days when shopping for a wedding meant going only to Chandni Chowk or Karol Bagh in search of the sarees and lehengas. The mobile trend has changed the way we do serious shopping. People no longer hesitate to buy ethnic wear online.

To add more glamour to the saree quotient, top designers are constantly reinventing ways to drape the traditional saree in an unconventional manner. Bridal collections from JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani, Suneet Varma, Anita Dongre, Sulakshana Monga, Rina Dhaka amongst others are gradually becoming trend setters in the wedding world.

Some of the most popular sarees these days reflect a lot of Zardosi, Sequins, Pearl, Stones and Appliques work. Embellished sarees were trending in the Spring-Summer collection of 2015 and were featured heavily in Indian fashion shows. Myntra saw a steady increase in the sale of embellished sarees last year.

If you haven’t yet explored the app to have a look at the largest collection of embellished sarees, give it a try!
