Raising Your Style Quotient With Ami
For a celebrity, to hand the responsibility of their image reputation over to a stylist, takes a lot of trust. And yet icons like Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit and Alia Bhatt have done so without batting an eyelid. So who is this woman that these other women have so much faith in?
A celebrity stylist, former Fashion Director at L’Officiel India and Creative Director at Harper’s Bazaar India, Ami Patel is a popular name, both in the fashion industry and within Bollywood.
Ami has dabbled in a lot of roles, be it editorial, print, television or styling. When she began work at L’Officiel India over twelve years ago, deciding the style quotient of celebrities came naturally to her. Over the years, she has styled both newbies like Alia Bhatt to timeless beauties like Madhuri Dixit.
Her knack of transforming people through their attire has made her a favourite amidst the film fraternity and Ami has built a confident business relationship with many of them over the years. Celebrities like Priyanka Chopra rely on Ami exclusively for their appearance at any major event – both national and international.
Her styling skills aside, Ami is also a skilled communicator. She not only helps people develop effective communication techniques as a faculty at Art of Living Foundation, she has also been a mentor to budding designers and entrepreneurs at Myntra Fashion Incubator. MFI conducted regular workshops and a full educational curriculum that was presided over by fashion experts like Ami, among many others.
This multi-tasker, in 2014, also held a show at Myntra Fashion Weekend, where she curated a wardrobe from two popular concepts that sell on Myntra – Indigo and Print Clash. The show was aptly called the ‘Celebration of Youth’ that featured peppy colours and styles, with show stoppers like Kalki Koechlin and Cyrus Broacha.
Her accomplishments earned her the title of ‘Stylist of the Year’ in 2015. Ami believes that her true calling is to make people look beautiful inside out. She stresses on the importance of adapting a meditation routine, which she believes helps in an ‘internal makeover’, which according to her is the most important aspect of an individual’s personality.
