The Colours Of 2016
Have you watched the video of Justin Bieber’s What Do You Know? If yes, you have already seen colours of the year 2016 in mp4. If not, there is always the Myntra app which can show various ways in which the colours are being used. So this coming year, there is not just one colour of the year, but two. And they are called Rose Quartz and Serenity.
The selection of these two colours has been announced by global colour authority Pantone. Compared to previous ‘radiant orchids’ and ‘tangerine tangos’, the colours of 2016 appear to be more subtle and soft. According to Pantone, these two colours convey rosy warmth and tranquility. Note that Rose Quartz is not exactly baby pink. It is a warm pink that has something very comforting about it. Serenity complements its companion perfectly as it is soft and not a vibrant shade of blue. Both are shades we can associate with a relaxed state of mind.
Choosing the colour of a year involves taking a poll from decor and fashion designers and retailers on what colours they are going to use.
But why two colours? Pantone says it is mostly because of the societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity. In the last few years, designers have offered a lot of collections for men that borrow something from a woman’s wardrobe and vice versa.
So while the lines are getting blurred and the ties and skirts are getting printed in Rose Quartz and Serenity and iPhones users are sending the blue and pink emojis, Myntra has a wide range of all things pink and blue.
Just remember to put on the colour filters while browsing the app!
